Christ in You (Good News) Bible Study Map

Christ in you! Mystery Among The Gentiles Revealed! (Col. 1:26-27) Revealed how?….. By the Holy Spirit! (1 Jn. 4:13, 1 Cor. 2:10)

Welcome to my labor of love. I have created a detailed study-map that dives into the good news of our union and relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit because of our faith in Christ. We receive this union and relationship only by believing in Him (The one whom the Father sent), by acknowledging and confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord, Rom. 10:9. It is by faith alone that we “receive” this free gift of salvation and the result of this salvation is intimate relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are made right with God when we believe in Christ, Gal. 2:16, 3:11-25, 1 Cor. 6:11, 2 Cor. 5:14-21, Rom. 3:21-31, Rom. 5:15-19. The good news is His free gift of salvation is available for all who believe in Him!

The study-map, companion articles and Bible Studies, have been created to help reveal the good news of His free gift of abundant life for all who believe in Him (Heb. 10:10; 2 Cor. 5:15; Jn. 6:47; Gal. 2:16), and as a result, our new relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Rom. 3:1-26, 5:1-16; Jn. 16:7, 17:20-26; Col. 2:9-10; 2 Cor. 3:6; 1 Jn. 2:27), the position of those who are “in Christ” (Col. 1:26-27; 1 Jn. 4:13,15; Col. 1:27; Rom. 8:10; Gal. 2:20; Eph. 3:17; 2 Cor. 13:5; Gal. 3:26-28; Jn. 14:20; Gal. 4:19), living in the New Covenant (Mat. 26:27-28; Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 7:22, 8:6-13; 1 Cor. 11:23-25; 2 Cor. 3:6-18; Eze. 36:26-27), and receiving the finished work of the cross (Jn. 19:28-30, 6:37-40; Isa. 53:5-10; 2 Cor. 5:21, 8:9; I Ptr. 3:18; Heb. 9:12, 24-28, 10:10-14; Eph. 1:7-8; Rom. 5:17; Col. 2:13-14).

There is no longer any separation for the believer, the veil has been torn (Rom. 8:31-19; Heb. 10:19-22). We have become the Temple of God! (1 Cor. 3:16). Those who believe in Christ are now the temple of the Holy Spirit who was given to us by God! (1 Cor. 6:19-20). This “Christ In You” project delves into all this and more!

  • “For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God” (Rom. 10:4 NLT).
  • “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority” (Col. 2:9-10 NLT). The “you” mentioned here is one who believes in Jesus Christ. The believer’s spirit is made complete through their union with Christ, their body (flesh) and soul (mind, will and emotions) still need to be renewed. (Rom. 12:2) More on this below.
  • “The mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:26-27 ESV).

This website is meant to be a study guide and companion for the Christ in You (Good News) Study-Map, which you can view in detail below. Its purpose is to reveal the mystery of Christ in us, us in Christ and how the free gift of the Holy Spirit makes it all possible! “Christ in you” (Col. 1:26-27) is the catalyst that has driven me to create this study-map and companion website. It has sent me on a journey that has been life changing!

Let’s dive in! First you will want to take a good long look at the study-map in high resolution. Then we will move onto breaking down the details of the study-map. This is a Bible study that leads to a better understanding of what it means to be in Christ and have Christ in us and the freedom and abundant life that the Father has planned for us.  It is an exploration into union with Christ and fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The study-map is not meant to look at and comprehend quickly nor is this blog meant to read through quickly in one visit. On the contrary, it’s a detailed schematic of scripture to encourage study and to slowly take in with Bible in hand. This is a labor of love designed to be a catalyst to dig deeper.  The study-map is designed to be printed in a large 24″x36″ poster format, however it’s also designed to view online in high resolution. The flow of the map has several starting points that point out the many relationships between man, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit and where it all leads to: Christ in us, us in Christ, the abundant life, union with Christ by the Holy Spirit and the ultimately the Kingdom of God within us! A better understanding of this leads to friendship, fellowship, communion and union with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. His love, joy, peace and glory within us!

Important note: Weaved into the map is a color scheme I am using for Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I find it very helpful to understand which person of the Trinity is being focused on while reading scripture. Here is a legend explaining the colors linked to the Trinity.

God The Father / Jesus Christ The Son / The Holy Spirit
The Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit As One

Note the colors and the person of the Trinity that it relates to. This will help as you are digging through this study. This is a very important part to getting the most out of the map. I have spent a lot of time working through the roles that each person of the Trinity plays in regards to relationship, ours with them and theirs with us. The color coding of the map helps point out which person of the Trinity is involved with the scripture and how it relates to us and us to them. It’s such a wonderful mystery!

Col. 1:26-27 (NKJV); Jn. 14:25-26, 15:25; 16:8-15 (AMPC) (MSG); 1 Jn. 2:27 (AMPC) are the key scriptures that led me to dig deeper and deeper into this glorious mystery that has been revealed to us by the Holy Spirit! What is the mystery revealed? “Christ in us, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:26-27 NKJV). As I have been digging and digging into this mystery and have been finding much hidden treasure along the way. While digging into “Christ in those who believe in Him”, I have found that this also leads to the mystery of:

  • Us in Christ – 1 Jn. 4:13, 15 (NLT), Eph. 2:6 (AMP)
  • The abundant life – Jn. 10:10, 2 Cor. 3:6, Jn. 6:63, 1 Cor. 15:22 (AMP)
  • Union with Christ – Eph. 2:6 (NLT), 1 Cor. 6:17 (NASB), Eph. 3:16-18 (AMP), Col. 3:3 (NLT)
  • The Holy Spirit Dwells in Those Who Believe in Christ – 1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19-20, 2 Cor. 6:16, Ezek. 36:27, 2 Tim. 1:14, Eph. 5:18, Rom. 8:9, 8:11, Jn. 16:13, Gal. 3:5-8, 5:18, 1 Jn. 2:27 (NLT)
  • The kingdom of God within you! – Lk. 17:20-21 (NKJV)

These are all glorious mysteries that we will be discovering more of for eternity!

Also and most important is the mystery of Christ Himself!  “…in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:3 NLT). In the book of Colossians, Paul says that “Christ is a mystery of God!”.

“[For my hope is] that their hearts may be encouraged as they are knit together in [unselfish] love, so that they may have all the riches that come from the full assurance of understanding [the joy of salvation], resulting in a true [and more intimate] knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge [regarding the word and purposes of God]” (Col. 2:2-3 AMP).

WoW! The mystery that is Christ… “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”. I really like what Paul says here: all the riches that come from the full assurance of understanding the joy of salvation.” The result of understanding the joy of salvation is a true and more intimate knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge [regarding the word and purposes of God] are in Christ… and Christ is in you and you are in Him! Rejoice! This is good news. Walk in this truth continually, receive His free gifts with gladness and be amazed!

Jesus is The Center, He is supreme!
Everything Was Created Through Him and for Him.

Jesus: Yahweh, Savior, Emmanuel, Christ, Lord, Master, The Word, The Bread of Life, Son of God, Son of man, Son of David, Lamb of God, New Adam, Second Adam, Last Adam, Light of the World, King of the Jews, King of Kings, I Am is the center of all!

“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything” (Col. 1:15-18 NLT).

Colossians 1 (Bible Page Mark up)

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven” (Heb. 1:1-3 NLT).

Jesus said: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (Jn. 14:25-26 KJV).

When Jesus says: “whom the Father will send in my name.”  He is again putting Himself in the center! The Father, Son and Holy Spirit had a plan and that was for the Father to send us the Holy Spirit through the Son!

“In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being” (Jn. 1:1-3 AMP).

“Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, who is the source of all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things [that have been created], and we [believers exist and have life and have been redeemed] through Him” (1 Corin. 8:6 AMP).

Jesus Christ Is The Way To The Father In Heaven and The Holy Spirit Is Our Helper, Teacher, Comforter and Guide.

  •  “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (Jn. 14:6 NLT).
  • There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NLT).
  •  “But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ” (Gal. 3:22 NLT). We receive God’s promise of freedom how? By believing in Jesus Christ 🙂 * Much more about the importance of believing and faith below. Also check out a deep dive Bible study I have in progress called “Believe In Him“. It dives into what happens when one believe in Christ or rejects Christ.

Because of Christ and His sacrifice for us, our sins have not only been forgiven but erased! Isa. 43:25; Col. 2:14; Heb. 10:14–18, 8:12; Rom. 8:1. Yes, Christ took away the sins of the the whole world when He died on the cross. Jn. 1:29; Rom. 3:21-26, 5:10, 6:10; Col. 1:20, 2:13; Heb. 8:12, 9:22, 10:12,18; 2 Cor. 5:19, 1 Jn. 2:2, 4:10. However, one must believe in Jesus Christ to “receive” this forgiveness of sin and reconciliation.

“Then He said again to them, “I am going away, and you will look for Me, and you will die [unforgiven and condemned] in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.” So the Jews were asking [among themselves], “Will He kill Himself? Is that why He says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?” He said to them, “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. That is why I told you that you will die [unforgiven and condemned] in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am the One [I claim to be], you will die in your sins.

Jn. 8:21-24 (AMP)

Full context is very important. Example. If you read Rom 5:10 that I have referenced above all by itself and out of context you may think the word “our” and “we” is referring to the whole world. Let’s read it: Rom. 5:10 (AMP) “For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.” Yes, Christ did die on the cross for our sins while we were still enemies of God but we still have to believe in Christ to “receive” that forgiveness.

Now let’s back up and read the beginning of Rom. 5 putting it fuller context:

Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, [let us grasp the fact that] we have peace with God [and the joy of reconciliation with Him] through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). Through Him we also have access by faith into this [remarkable state of] grace in which we [firmly and safely and securely] stand. Let us rejoice in our hope and the confident assurance of [experiencing and enjoying] the glory of [our great] God [the manifestation of His excellence and power].

Rom. 5:1-2 (AMP)

Note in Rom. 5:1-2, the “we” is believers. i.e. “Therefore, since we (believers) have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith in Jesus Christ. Remember, Pail is writing to believers. You can plainly see this in Rom. 1:8 (AMP) “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith [your trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness] is being proclaimed in all the world.”

As noted above in Jn. 8:21-24, “for if you do not believe that I am the One [I claim to be], you will die in your sins.”

So how can you die in your sins if your sins where forgiven before you believed in Christ? The answer is, yes your sins were forgiven because of what Christ did on the cross but you do not “receive” that forgiveness and reconciliation until you believe in Christ.

We do not “receive” His righteousness, that is we are not made right with God, not reconciled back to Him until we believe in Him.

This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [Jew or Gentile] who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God’s Son]. There is no distinction, since all have sinned and continually fall short of the glory of God, and are being justified [declared free of the guilt of sin, made acceptable to God, and granted eternal life] as a gift by His [precious, undeserved] grace, through the redemption [the payment for our sin] which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith.

Rom. 3:22-25 (AMP)

This is all received by faith in Jesus Christ. I do not have it until I “receive” it.

This is what Christ did for us when He died on the cross: “This “realm of death” describes our former state, for we were held in sin’s grasp. But now, we (believers) have been resurrected out of that “realm of death” never to return, for we are forever alive and forgiven of all our sins! He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all—our sins, our stained soul—he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation. Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his!” (Col. 2:13-15 TPT)….and we receive all of this when we believe in Him by faith.

Here is some proper perspective for those who believe in Him. I just mentioned (Col. 1:15-18) above but lets read it again in fuller context.

So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News (Col. 1:15-23 NLT).

Check out verse Col. 18-20 in the Message version: “He was supreme in the beginning and—leading the resurrection parade—he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering far above everything, everyone. So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the crossCol. 1:18-20 (MSG). Absolutely amazing!

I mentioned this scripture above but want to place it hear again from the passion translation. “For the Christ is the end of the law. And because of him, God has transferred his perfect righteousness to all who believe” (Rom. 10:4 TPT). He transferred His righteousness to us just because we believe in Him. Wow!

What happened at the cross, Christ’s death and what happened after the cross, His burial, resurrection and ascension are the most significant events in human history! For now I will focus on just the cross. “On the cross, He gave Himself for our sins and rescued us from this present evil age according to God’s will” (Gal.1:4 NASB). On the cross Christ said “it is finished”, then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit! (Jn. 19:28-30 NLT) and at the moment when Jesus gave up His Spirit the veil in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. (Mrk. 15:38, Lk. 23:45, Heb. 10:19-22 TPT). The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. I would say this was a pretty important moment in human history. The veil being torn was the best message God could have given us. Because of the blood of Jesus, man would no longer be separated from His presence! Jesus made a way where the was no way. The veil in the Temple represented a separation from His presence. There is no longer any separation thanks to Jesus! “…Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love” (Rom. 8:31-39 NLT).

“At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah. One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink. But the rest said, “Wait! Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.” Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead” (Mat. 27:45-52 NLT). See also: (Mrk. 15:38; Lk. 23:45).

And now we are brothers and sisters in God’s family because of the blood of Jesus, and he welcomes us to come right into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm—boldly and with no hesitation. For he has dedicated a new, life-giving way for us to approach God. For just as the veil was torn in two, Jesus’ body was torn open to give us free and fresh access to him! And since we now have a magnificent King-Priest to welcome us into God’s house, we come closer to God and approach him with an open heart, fully convinced by faith that nothing will keep us at a distance from him. For our hearts have been sprinkled with blood to remove impurity and we have been freed from an accusing conscience and now we are clean, unstained, and presentable to God inside and out! (Heb. 10:19-22 TPT).

I love how these two scripture are related in regards to the fact that we can now boldly enter into His presence because the veil has been torn.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus” (Heb. 10:19 NLT).

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” (Heb. 4:16 NLT).

Put (Heb. 4:17 and 10:9) together and you get this wonderful good news: “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus and there we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

“Since we are now joined to Christ, we have been given the treasures of redemption by his blood—the total cancellation of our sins—all because of the cascading riches of his grace” (Eph. 1:7 TPT).

For those who believe in Him, this same Christ lives in you and you in Him! You have become a dwelling place where God lives by His Spirit. WoW! ~ Col. 1:26-27, 1 Jn. 4:13,15, Col. 1:27, Rom. 8:10, Gal. 2:20, Eph. 3:17, 2 Cor. 13:5, Gal. 3:26-28, Jn. 14:20, Gal. 4:19.

happy kid 2

…and this Christ that lives in you also lives in the Father and the Father lives in Christ. The Father and the Son are one and you are in Christ (because you believe) and He, the Son lives in in you. Those who believe in Christ are also filled with the Holy Spirit. Are you starting to see the union with we have the Trinity yet?. This union is based solely on our belief in Christ. When you believe in Him you receive Him. You receive the finished work of the cross. This is the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

“For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but in a [spiritual] circumcision [performed by] Christ by stripping off the body of the flesh (the whole corrupt, carnal nature with its passions and lusts). [Thus you were circumcised when] you were buried with Him in [your] baptism, in which you were also raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God [as displayed] when He raised Him up from the dead” (Col. 2:9-12 AMPC).

Colossians 2 (Bible Page Mark up)

“Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them” (Jn. 14:23 NLT).

“Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do” (Jn. 14:10-11 NLT).

“When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (Jn. 14:20 NLT).

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one” (Jn. 14:27-30 NLT).

“The Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you (those who believe in Christ) know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you” (Jn. 14:17-18 AMP).

When did you receive the Holy Spirit? …when you believed.

“And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him” (Eph. 1:13-14 NLT).

Ephesians 1 (Bible Page Mark up)

I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ” (Gal. 3:5 NLT). You received the Holy Spirit because you believed in Him! It is because you believed the message (the good news) that you heard about Christ. That He died for your sins. You believed that He died, was buried and rose to new life and that you died, were buried and rose to new life with Him (Rom. 6:1-11, Col. 2:12, 20 , 3:1-3, 9-11). The day you believed in the one whom the Father sent you received the finished work of the cross.

I love how this reads in the (AMPC) version. “Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] what the Law demands, or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on the message that you heard?” (Gal. 3:5 AMPC).

Believe, adhere to, trust in and rely on Him!… and you are a new creation; saved, set free from the power of sin and are filled with The Holy Spirit! You received the finished work of the cross, the free gift of salvation and all that Christ did on the cross the moment that you believe in, adhere to, trust in and rely on Him.

This is very important because there are many Christians who have believed in and trusted in Jesus Christ and are saved but think they still need to “do something else” to receive the Holy Spirit.

“But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ” (1 John 2:27 NLT).

Intimate Relationship With Him instead of religion with a distant angry God. This is the good news of the Gospel. This is the New Covenant We Are Now Living In. The New Way Of Faith.

The core of the Christ in You (Good News) Bible Study-Map and this blog is to point to the good news of intimate relationship with Him instead of religion with a distant angry God.

Religion would have you believe you have to work hard to earn God’s love and acceptance and that He is out to get you if you mess up. Religion would have you believe that even if you did work hard enough to receive God’s love and acceptance that it would only be temporary until you mess up again. In this state, you walk through life defeated and miserable most of the time, never being able to measure up to God’s standards. The heavy burden and heavy yoke of religion is life in a cage, a prison of fear void of joy and life.

Relationship is “believing in Him whom the Father sent” (Jn. 6:29 NKJV) and receiving the love and acceptance He already has for you because of what Jesus Christ has done, not because of what you have done. Oh thank you Jesus! Relationship is receiving His easy yoke and light burden. Believe and receive abundant life!

Feed On Jesus

“I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, he who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, relies on, and has faith in Me] has (now possesses) eternal life. I am the Bread of Life [that gives life—the Living Bread]. Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and [yet] they died. [But] this is the Bread that comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die. I [Myself] am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever; and also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body)” (Jn. 6:47-51 AMPC).

“And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood]. He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day. For My flesh is true and genuine food, and My blood is true and genuine drink. He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me. This is the Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the manna which our forefathers ate, and yet died; he who takes this Bread for his food shall live forever” (Jn. 6:53-58 AMPC).

Spend time in His word and feed on Him. His flesh is true and genuine food, and His blood is true and genuine drink. …whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me. This is intimate relationship.

John 6 (Bible Page Mark up)

“My yoke is easy and My burden is light…” This statement from Jesus is what relationship with Him is all about!

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Mat. 11:29-30 NKJV).

Here in this scripture Jesus says “take” my yoke upon you and learn from Him. This is something we are to go after and take. It is a free gift He offers us but we need to take (receive) it. If someone offers you a present and you never take it and open it you would have never received the gift. I love how this scripture reads in The Passion Translation:

“Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear” (Mat. 11:29-30 TPT).

In Him there is rest, joy, peace, life and life abundant!

Here “Take my yoke upon you” is translated to “Simply join your life to mine”. There it is. Union with Christ. There is the life abundant! I will dive more into this below. Read on… there is so much good news! 🙂

“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith” (Phil. 3:8-9 NLT).

Willingly Respond To Him. We Have Free Will and We Have A Choice. We Get To Choose Him in Response to Him First Choosing Us.

{ When we willingly believe in Christ, we also receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit Guides Us into All Truth. The Holy Spirit reveals to us Christ in Us. }

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38 NLT).

Above I talked about the beginning of the map where God first chose us (Eph. 1:4-7 NLT) and then how we willing respond to Him. We willingly respond to Him (the Father) by choosing to believe in Jesus (the son) through faith. I highly recommend reading the entire chapter of John 14. After Jesus says He is the way, the truth and the life and is the only way to the Father, He then also goes onto to say that the Father will be sending an advocate, a helper that is the Holy Spirit who will never leave us! Jesus said the Father sent Him and that the Father would be sending us the Holy Spirit as a representative of Jesus. Jesus said He had to go and be with the Father so that the Holy Spirit could come. He also called the Holy Spirit a gift! This is incredible and is specifically what I am trying to unravel with my map. It is the purpose of this passionate labor of love! It’s burning in me like never before and it is life giving!

Jesus gave us a great example of letting God live through us in this scripture: “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me” (Jn. 14:10 NLT). This is a great example of us in Christ and Christ in us and Christ who lives in us doing His work through us because of the Holy Spirit. WOW! More on this as we plow through the study-map.

The secret has been revealed to us! “This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory” (Col 1:26,27 NLT). How is this possible,? How has it been revealed? By the Holy Spirit! It’s mentioned very clearly here: “…But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets” (1 Cor. 2:10 NLT). Below I will attempt to explain the Study-Map and break down the goodness of the Lord! Oh yes! There are secrets God wants to share with us! So much good news to discover!

Everything noted above is based on our choosing Him! The choosing Him and the believing in Him whom the Father sent requires “faith”.

We Believe By Faith!

God first chose us (Eph. 1:4-7 NLT) and the Father draws us to His Son. “For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me” (Jn. 6:44 NLT). however we still require faith to choose Him. It takes faith and the gift of God’s grace to believe. Universalism which is creeping into the Christian church more and more these days, would have you think that Christ died for all and all are forgiven and that is the end of the story. A universalist may use the word “inclusion” to explain this away. i.e. all are included in salvation because of what Christ did on the cross thus leaving out the requirement of “believing in Him”. However, one must believe in Christ to be saved. The scriptures are crystal clear on this. You cannot skirt around this. There is judgment for those who do not believe. Jesus Himself says this many times throughout the New Testament. For example: In Jn. 16:5-15 where it talks about “The work of the Holy Spirit”; specifically in vs. 9, Jesus said: “The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.” That is pretty darn clear. Jesus says this again in Jn. 6:29. “Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” Check out my “Believe In Him” study for a deeper dive into believing in Him whom the Father sent.

(Jn. 3:16) is a very familiar verse, however when read in fuller context: (Jn. 3:14-21), it brings out the importance of “believing in and trusting in Jesus Christ“. Check out how this reads in the amplified version. I am combining the AMPC and AMP versions for better clarity.

“And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], In order that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him, and relies on Him] may not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever!” (Jn.3:14-15 AMPC). –

…and continuing onto vs. 16-21 in the AMP version. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him]. This is the judgment [that is, the cause for indictment, the test by which people are judged, the basis for the sentence]: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For every wrongdoer hates the Light, and does not come to the Light [but shrinks from it] for fear that his [sinful, worthless] activities will be exposed and condemned. But whoever practices truth [and does what is right—morally, ethically, spiritually] comes to the Light, so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are—accomplished in God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence on Him]” (Jn. 3:16-21 AMP).

Verse 18 really gets to the heart of the matter: “Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him].”

Believe in, trust in, cleave to and rely on Him

“For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;”  (Eph. 2:8 AMP). The (NLT) version puts it clearer here: “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God” (Eph. 2:8 NLT). This free gift of God’s grace is available to all men; “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people” (Tit. 2:11NLT). However we still must believe and choose Him to receive this salvation. It is a gift, but we must willingly believe it and receive the gift.

“But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus” (Rom. 3:21-26 NLT).

When you believe by faith“, that is when you receive all of what the free gift of God’s grace has to offer and it takes “faith” to believe it.

“For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands. But faith’s way of getting right with God says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to heaven?’ (to bring Christ down to earth). And don’t say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead?’ (to bring Christ back to life again).” In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved” (Rom. 10:4-10 NLT).

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17 NKJV). Andrew Wommack has a great note about this scripture. “When we hear God’s Word, the Holy Spirit empowers it, and if we receive the truth, God’s supernatural faith enters us. We were so destitute that we couldn’t even believe the good news on our own. God had to make His kind of faith available to us so that we could believe in Him and receive His salvation. We were saved by using God’s supernatural faith to receive His grace.” WoW! Andrew Wommack has a great article on “The Faith of God” which I highly recommend reading. It dives deeper into this supernatural faith.

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see” (Heb. 11:1NLT).

“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” We have victory though faith!” (1 Jn. 5:4 NLT).

“For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe” (1 Thes. 2:13 NASB).

Faith
is the key that unlocks this free gift of God’s grace and God by His glorious grace and mercy helps us with this faith! Thank you Lord for helping me believe in you with all that is within me! The good news is it only takes a little faith.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God” (Eph. 2:8 NLT).

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 15:13 NLT). Trust in Him and be filled with His joy and peace!

We are locked under sin, slaves to sin and prisoners of sin until we believe in Him. Only then are we set free! We are set completely free into new life when we believe in Him! We receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.

“Is there a conflict, then, between God’s law and God’s promises? Absolutely not! If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it. But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ” (Gal. 3:21-22 NLT).

Other translations of “prisoners of sin” in (Gal. 3:21-22 NLT)

(NIV, TLV) – Locked up under the control of sin.
(AMP) – Imprisoned everyone [everything—the entire world] under sin.
(NASB) – Shut up under sin.
(TPT) – Under the power of sin.
(NKJV) – Confined under sin.
(KJV) – Under sin.
(MSG) – Out of right relationship with God.

You get the idea…  and (Rom. 6 NLT) also mentions “no longer slaves to sin”. Meaning before we believed in Christ we were “slaves to sin”.

“Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin” (Rom. 6:5-7 NLT). This passage mentions being “joined to Christ”, we are joined to Christ when we believe.

“Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God” (1 Jn. 4:15 AMP). We abide in and are joined to Christ because we believe!

“And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus,” (Eph. 2:6 AMP). We are in Christ because we believe.

“Then we cried out, “Lord, help us! Rescue us!” And he did! His light broke through the darkness and he led us out in freedom from death’s dark shadow and snapped every one of our chains. So lift your hands and give thanks to God for his marvelous kindness and for his miracles of mercy for those he loves! For he smashed through heavy prison doors and shattered the steel bars that held us back, just to set us free! (Pslm. 107:13-16 TPT). Amen and Hallelujah!

OK, I felt the subject of “Faith” was extremely important to spend some time on. A lot happens when we believe in Christ! Now lets move onto breaking out different sections of the study-map in detail.

Oh wait, one more thing I wanted to point out about faith and what happens when we believe in Christ. Our position changes; we become right with God. I wanted to put a Romans trail here that tells those who believe in Him just where we stand in relationship with Him.

Follow along for a reminder of where you stand with God because you trust, believe and have faith in Him! So amazing, so wonderful, so merciful, so kind, so loving is our King! Let me walk through this progression in the book of Romans.

Our friendship with God restored by the death of His Son. We are made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ. We are made right with God when we trust, believe and have faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ took our punishment. He has shown us a new way. (Rom. 3:1-26). This is good news! Thank you Jesus! We are made right with Him, when we believe in Him. This is the simple good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here is a marked-up page from my NLT Bible that highlights (Rom. 3:1-26 NLT). I highly recommend marking up your Bible during study, in my opinion and experience it really helps the word go deeper and “stick” better.

Romans 3 (Bible Page Mark up)

This “new way of faith is covered well in Gal. 3

Galatians 3 (Bible Page Mark up)

* I highly recommend these highlighters and these pens for Bible mark-up.

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are” (Rom. 3:22 NLT).

“…People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood” (Rom. 3:25 NLT).

“So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law” Rom. 3:28 NLT).

“There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith” (Rom. 3:30 NLT).

“Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith” (Rom. 4:13 NLT).

“And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God” (Rom. 4:22-25 NLT).

Romans 4 (Bible Page Mark up)

“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” (Rom. 5:1 NLT).

“And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God” (Rom. 5:9-11 NLT).

“But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins” (Rom. 5:15-16 NLT).

“But the free gift [of God] is not like the trespass [because the gift of grace overwhelms the fall of man]. For if many died by one man’s trespass [Adam’s sin], much more [abundantly] did God’s grace and the gift [that comes] by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to [benefit] the many. Nor is the gift [of grace] like that which came through the one who sinned. For on the one hand the judgment [following the sin] resulted from one trespass and brought condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift resulted from many trespasses and brought justification [the release from sin’s penalty for those who believe]” (Rom. 5:15-16 AMP).

“Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself” (Rom. 8:33 NLT).

“For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God” (Rom. 10:4 NLT)

Wow! That is pretty amazing good news. We have been made right with God and our friendship with Him has been restored. All because we believe in, trust in, cleave to, rely on and have faith in Jesus Christ.

This is something we need to constantly remind ourselves of as those who believe in Jesus. Those who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died on the cross to save us:

…have “His” joy. – “I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” ~ (Jn. 15:11 NLT).

…have “His” peace. – “I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (Jn. 14:27 NLT).

…have “His” spirit. – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Tim. 1:7 NLT).

This is our identity and who we are in Christ!
Walk in this identity always and stand firm.

{ Walk in Fullness of Life and Power }

Walk in newness of life that is from Christ (Eph. 2:4-7; Rom. 6:4) and walk in His mighty power that is at work in us. (Eph. 3:20). And may you have the “power to understand” how wide, long, high and deep God’s love is for us so that you can be made complete with “all the fullness of life and power” that comes from God. (Eph. 3:18-19).

Receive all Christ has freely given. His peace of mind and heart (Jh. 14:27), His Joy (Jn. 15:11), His Glory (Jn. 17:22), His Love (Jn. 17:26), His Spirit (Eph. 1:13-14), His Life (Gal. 1:4). …and that’s a very short list of what He has freely given. Freely receive and walk in all that He has freely given to those who believe in Him! Amen!

{ Make Sure You Are Properly Dressed }

“The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living” (Rom. 13:12 NLT).

“Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires” (Rom. 13:14 NLT).

“And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes” (Gal. 3:27 NLT).

Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy” Eph. 4:24 NLT).

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil” (Eph. 6:11 NLT)

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him” (Col. 3:10 NLT).

“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience” (Col. 3:12).

The Starting Point Of The Bible Study Map is God First Chooses Us

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins” (Eph. 1:4-7 NLT). There is so much goodness in this! It’s wonderful news! God wanted to do this and it gave Him great pleasure.

“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 1:9 NLT).

“But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him 16 to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles” (Gal. 1:15-17 NLT).

“For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up” (Jn. 6:44 NT).

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins” (1 Jn. 4:9 NLT).

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires” (2 Ptr. 1:3-4 NLT). The “coming to know Him” is a very important part of this scripture. We come to know Him by choosing Him. By believing in Him.

Some read these scriptures and say He chose us, the end. However, there is an important willful response on our part to choose Him, to respond to Him choosing us. So the caveat to this is He gave us a free will so we can choose Him or we can reject Him. He did not create robots that have no choice in the matter whatsoever. There are far too many scriptures that require a free will response on our part for us to come to any other conclusion. Check out my Believe Him Bible study page for a deep dive into what happens when we believe in or reject Christ. Here are two scriptural examples of this:

“Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God” (1 Jn. 4:15 AMP).

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive” (Jn. 7:38-39 NLT).

The “this” He is talking about here is the living water! The abundant life! Concerning the “Spirit”, is the Holy Spirit. He says here; that those who believe in Him (Jesus Christ) would receive the Holy Spirit. So believing in Him and choosing Him is the starting point to receiving all that is revealed on the study-map.  It’s the key that unlocks the door to all He has for us! It’s pretty simple: Believe in Him, choose Him and receive His free gift! This is a free gift that cannot be earned, you only have to receive it.  The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to us! Freely receive it so you can partake in what Jesus has already done for us.  “Believe in Him whom the Father has sent” (Jn. 6:29 NKJV). We can choose abundant life or darkness. We do have a choice.

“Believe and receive or doubt and do without, it’s your choice.” ~ Andrew Wommack

In the physical, you could offer me a gift and I could say, no thanks and never receive the gift or find out what the gift even was. Receive the gift and find out what’s in it. 🙂 It’s His goodness! Chose life, abundant life!

Also look again at (Eph. 1:4-7 NLT), Specifically “So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son” Eph. 1:6 NLT).

So how do we “belong to His dear Son” ? By believing in Him who the Father sent! By choosing Him! Reject Him, don’t believe in Him and you don’t receive what He poured out, it’s that simple.

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” (Eph. 2:8-9 NLT).

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:17-19 NKJV) – Oh YES!

“He died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them” (2 Cor. 5:15 NLT). Note: “Those who receive His new life”, that is referring to those who “choose to believe in Him”. Also note the second half of this scripture: “will no longer live for themselves, but instead will live for Christ”, this is significant to our relationship with the Lord. When we choose Him we receive His new life and as a result our desires change. Our life changes. We begin to let Him live through us!

What do we get when we choose Him and receive the gift? We get Abundant LIFE now!

“who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Cor. 3:6 NKJV).

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (Jn. 6:63 NKJV).

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (Jn. 10:10 NKJV).

“But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master” (Rom. 6:23 MSG).

We become a new creation from the moment we believe in Jesus Christ!

“Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God” (1 Jn. 4:15 AMP). This union happens the moment we believe. It’s where the new creation comes from!

We used to  have an old sinful nature, however from the moment you believe in Jesus Christ you are a new creation with a new nature! A Christian no longer has a sinful nature. A Christian does not have two nature warring within themselves. This new nature is filled with the Holy Spirit, filled with Christ and filled with abundant new life! This new creation is now in union with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! There is no room for the old sinful nature. Our old sinful nature was nailed to the cross and we step into this fact when we believe in Jesus Christ!

Water baptism is a good example of this. A glorious representation of our identity with Christ. A celebration of identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ! A celebration of our resurrection into new life which happened when we believed in Jesus Christ!

“Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus” (Rom. 6:3-11 NLT).

Here is a good summation of (Rom. 6:6-11) from the Message Bible. It’ puts it even clearer.

“Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life [our old man, our sinful nature, our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin’s every beck and call! [No longer a slave to sin!]” (Rom. 6:6-11 MSG).

  • Death in Adam, Life in Christ (Rom. 5:12-21).
  • Dead to Sin, Alive to God (Rom. 6:1-14).
  • From Slaves of Sin to Slaves of God (Rom. 6:15-23).
  • Freedom from Rules and New Life in Christ (Col. 2:6-13).
  • Victory through faith in Christ (1 Jn. 5:1-11).
  • Children of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Gal. 3:21-29).
  • Justified by faith and access to Christ by faith (Rom. 5:1-2).
  • Made right with God through faith in Christ (Phil. 3:7-9, Gal. 2:16-21, Rom. 3:21-26, 5:1-2).
  • New birth and new life through the Holy Spirit (Tit. 3:5).
  • Because we believe in Christ, we are now a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Cor. 5:17-21, Eph. 4:22-24, Rom. 6:3-4, Gal. 2:20
  • Everything changes when we believe in Jesus Christ!

“Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcisionthe cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins” (Col. 2:8-13 NLT).

“But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) …and how does Christ live in us? By us believing in and choosing him. “…And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you” (Rom. 8:9-11 NLT).

Note: NLT and other versions translate “flesh” to “sinful nature” which is a poor translation. Flesh and sinful nature are not the same thing. The greek word for “flesh” as written in KJV is “sarx”, which literally means “flesh,” meat,” or sometimes “body.” When you read the phrase “your sinful nature” in a Bible translation your are led to believe you still have one. That is not the case for those who believe in Christ.

The Gospel is simple. We have mad it too complicated!

So believe in the Son, the one whom the Father sent and receive also the Holy Spirit whom the Father sent as a gift to us in Jesus’ name! Can it really be that simple? Yes, it’s really that simple. Our flesh wants to make it more complicated so we can feel justified by somehow earning this free gift. It can’t be done, you cannot earn that which has already been freely given to you.

“Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent” (Jn. 6:29 NLT). The only “work” here is the believing.

Jesus also said:  “…And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (Jn. 17:3 NKJV).

(Jn. 6:29) above mentions believing and this scripture mentions knowing. Believing is faith, knowing is relationship. We need both!

“I have told you these things while I am still with you. But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you” (Jn. 14:25-26 AMP). This is the core scripture that inspired me to make the entire map!

Do we get this Abundant LIFE now if we do not choose Him? Not choosing Him is a choice for living life in the darkness rather than in the light. Death vs. Life! “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (Jn 3:36). Choose life! Choose Him! (Jn. 6:63, 10:10; 2 Cor. 3:6; Rom. 8:9-11).

This scripture says a lot to me about receiving Him, believing in Him and the benefit of doing so. “He came to that which was His own [that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession], and those who were His own [people—the Jewish nation] did not receive and welcome Him. But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name” (Jn. 1:11-12 AMP).

This really says a lot! So what did those get in return for believing and trusting in Jesus Christ? The right to to become children of God.

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Gal. 3:26 NKJV).

Important Note: Not all are God’s children, only those that “believe in Him” are. An inconvenient truth? Well, it’s what the Bible teaches, believe in Him whom the Father sent.

Here are just a few scriptures that talk about the benefits of believing in Him (Jesus Christ). Believing is an act of free will on our part. We can choice to believe or not to believe. We can receive or reject.

…whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16 NKJV).

“…he who believes in Me has everlasting life” (Jn. 6:47 NKJV).

“…the person who hears My word [the one who heeds My message], and believes and trusts in Him who sent Me, has (possesses now) eternal life [that is, eternal life actually begins—the believer is transformed], and does not come into judgment and condemnation, but has passed [over] from death into life” (Jn. 5:24 AMP). …Life abundantly! (Jn 10:10 NKJV). but more about this below.

What this all leads to… Christ is in you because of the Holy Spirit and because of the Holy Spirit you are in Christ! – “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit…, Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God”  (1 Jn. 4:13,15 NKJV).

This is all because God first chose you before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4-7) and then in response you chose to believe in the one whom the Father sent (the Son, Jesus Christ) and the best part of all is that the Father sent us the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name! (Jn. 14:25-26) We are filled with the Holy Spirit who has all that the Father and the Son have! And because of this we have life, not just life but life abundant (overflowing)! OK, I’m getting ahead of myself again, I can’t help it, I’m so excited! This is such great news! I will explain more below.

Now that I have explained the starting point, let me explain my purpose for the study-map. I created this blog to help expound upon the details of the study-map. The map itself may feel a bit overwhelming at first glance. I am going to try and break it down into nuggets of His goodness.

My purpose of creating the poster was to explain what God was showing me in regards to the Trinity.  One night before going on a mission trip to Africa, God kept me up all night unveiling a schematic of the Trinity and specifically, man’s relationship with all three persons of the Trinity and vice versa. He was showing me this schematic imagery explaining the spiritual aspects of the Trinity, analytically but with a creative bent, ha! Analytically creative revelation… This is very helpful for a mechanical engineer with an analytical brain. I have a photo gallery from that 2016 trip here.

My focus was on how important The Holy Spirit is in regards to our relationship with the Father and the Son. In the process I found it was leading me to the reality of “Christ in Me” and then it went even deeper and led me to myself in Christ and in the Father and Christ in the Father, etc… Basically union with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. WoW! Then things really started to get exciting and my relationship with Jesus Christ all started to make a lot more sense! The Holy Spirit is the key that unlocks the door. The gift of The Holy Spirit is the best thing the Father could have given us! It’s crucial that we understand this and make room for the Holy Spirit in our lives to guide us, teach us and help us!

In (Jn. 16:7) Jesus said it was to our advantage that He go away and be with the Father. He said if He went to be with the Father, the Father would send the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. So here we have the Father sending us the Holy Spirit through the Son.  Wow! Jesus said the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things” (Jn. 14:25 AMP).

Let’s read (Jn. 16:4-7) in the Message version in fuller context: “I didn’t tell you this earlier because I was with you every day. But now I am on my way to the One who sent me. Not one of you has asked, ‘Where are you going?’ Instead, the longer I’ve talked, the sadder you’ve become. So let me say it again, this truth: It’s better for you that I leave. If I don’t leave, the Friend [The Holy Spirit] won’t come. But if I go, I’ll send him to you” (Jn. 16:7 MSG).

When you have Jesus telling the disciples that something better is coming and that something better will not come unless He leaves, you pay attention. What could possibly be better than Jesus? The Father had a plan for us to be the Temple of God. (1 Cor. 3:16). The indwelling Holy Spirit completes the plan for us to be the Temple of God. He, the Holy Spirit makes it all possible. This is why Jesus said: “It’s better for you that I leave.”

When you look at the map it is showing you the present state of the Trinity in the New Testament after Jesus ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father and the Holy Spirit was sent. The operation of the Trinity under the New Covenant! You can see us (man) on earth with the Holy Spirit and Father and Son in Heaven. However, The Holy Spirit is sent to us through Jesus. “In Jesus’ name” (Jn. 14:26 NKJV) and the only way to The Father is through the Son. (Jn. 14:6 NKJV) Jesus is the center!

The map is focusing on the operation of the Trinity during the New Testament (New Covenant) . The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are operating very differently than what all three persons of the Trinity where doing during creation and through the Old Testament. The Trinity always was, is and will be! There are three main arrows in the center of the map that point back and forth from man on earth, up to Heaven and back again. I have the center of the map cleaned up to show just these three main arrows indicated below.

Before diving into this section of the map I need to talk about the New Covenant. The Bible speaks of a new and better covenant with God. (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 7:22, 8:6-13; 1 Cor. 11:23-25; 2 Cor. 3:6-18; Eze. 36:26-27). We are living in this New Covenant thanks to what Jesus did on the cross. This is a major focal point to the study-map. I want to highlight the section of the map that has to do with the operation of the Trinity in the New Covenant. Look at the screen shot of the map below, focus on the area underneath the section that says “Operation of the Trinity in the New Covenant.” I want to focus on those scriptures next.

Let’s read through these scriptures carefully:

“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah — not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more” (Jer. 31:31-34 NKJV).

Jesus guarantees a better covenant with God! “Because of this oath, Jesus is the one who guarantees this better covenant with God” (Heb. 7:22 NLT).

Also referenced in Hebrews 8 and after the reference back to Jeremiah it says this in  ” When God speaks of a “new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear” (Heb. 8:13 NLT).

“But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises. If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it” (Heb. 8:6-7 NLT).

Read (Heb. 8:6-13 AMP) for full context.

“For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood” (1 Cor. 11:23-25 NLT).

The Glory of the New Covenant in fuller context:

He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life. The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away. Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever! Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image” (2 Cor. 3:6-18 NLT).

We need to constantly remind ourselves that we are living under a new and better covenant. No longer slaves to the law but we are might right with God because of our faith in Him and because of what Christ did on the cross. What Christ did on the cross was a finished work. We now live under a new covenant which is a new way of faith. The entire chapter of Gal. 3 covers this very well. Dive in! Here it is in my Bible.

Galatians 3 (Bible Page Mark up)

The Holy Spirit is a crucial part of the New Covenant

“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations” (Ezek. 36:26-27 AMP).

We are to be ministers of the new covenant!

“Such is the confidence and steadfast reliance and absolute trust that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God. He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life” (2 Cor. 3:4-6 AMP)

The Holy Spirit empowers us to be ministers of this New Covenant.

This sums up the operation of the Trinity in the New Covenant nicely: “On that day [when that time comes] you will know for yourselves that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you” (Jn. 14:20 AMP).

“when that time comes”…  That time has come…. let’s read Jn. 14:20 again in the (NLT).

When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (Jn. 14:20 NLT). The Holy Spirit makes this all possible. It’s all amazing good news!

OK, back to the map. I have broken out the section of the map that refers to our relationship with the Trinity and vise-versa.

The Father, Son and The Holy Spirit represented by the blue, red and green arrows is the core of the map. The path of these arrows represents the function of each person of the Trinity and how they operate in the New Covenant.

This is the core of our relationship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!

The three main Blue (Father), Red (Son) and Green (Holy Spirit) arrows are the core of the map and are based on these three scriptures.

14:25,26 AMP).

“But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, He will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor Me; He will take from Me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also Mine. That is why I’ve said, ‘He takes from Me and delivers to you’” (Jn. 16:13-15 MSG).

“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you ]” (Jn. 16:7 AMP).

title - seated in him

You will also see this important question I have on the main arrow which is making reference to (Jn. 16:13-15 MSG). “If the Son is in Heaven seated at the right hand of the Father”, (See Mrk. 16:19, Col. 3:1, Mat. 22:44) then how is Christ in me and further more, how am I in Christ?”

This is a question I’ve had for a while. (Jn. 16:13-15 NKJV) helps me a lot with this question! I will try my best to explain what God has shown me and why I made this study-map. You will have to follow along on the main study-map for all the other supporting scriptures that help answer this very important question. These are some of the important references in regards to Christ in you. (Col. 1:26-27; 1 Jn. 4:13,15; Rom. 8:10; Gal. 2:20, 3:26-28, 4:19; Eph. 3:17; 2 Cor. 13:5; Jn. 14:20). This is part of the mystery of “Christ in You”. He is seated at the right hand of the Father but at the same time is in you, but also at the same time we are: “Seated with Him in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6 NKJV). WoW! …and where is Jesus seated? At the right hand of the Father in Heaven. We are there with Him because He is in us! Better yet, we are also “in Him”! Wait, we are “in Him” as well? YES!!! So at first glance you would think there should be another chair up there at the top where the Son and the Father are sitting for us to be sitting next to the Son with Him. There is no extra chair needed because we are “in Christ”!  So we are not seated “with Him”, we are “in Him” and therefore with Him seated at the right hand of the Father (in union with Him). Lets look at (Eph. 2:4-6 NKJV, AMP).

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:4-6 NKJV).

“But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us, even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [ because we are ] in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6 AMP).

Just a few important scriptures about being “in union with Christ“. This is crucial to understanding our identity “in Christ”!

“But the one who is united and joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Cor. 6:17 AMP).

It is through faith and by the Holy Spirit that we are in Christ and He is in us.

“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith” (Eph. 3:17 AMP).

“For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God” (Col. 3:3 AMP).

“…And He raised us up together with Him [ when we believed ], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [ because we are ] in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6 AP).

“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one” (Jn. 17:22 NLT).

I mentioned this scripture earlier above but need to repeat it one more time. This scripture really ties it all together for me!

“By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit…, Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God (1 Jn. 4:13,15 NKJV).

The Holy Spirit plays such an important role in all of this! The Holy Spirit is the key that unlocks the door to abundant life! Understanding the concept of “Christ in me” and “me in Christ” through faith and by the Holy Spirit has changed my life forever!

“You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness” (Eph. 4:4-6 MSG).

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20 NLT).

Christ in us? Us in Christ? How in the world can this be? Well that’s just it! This concept is not of this world. It is spiritual and must be spiritually discerned! Which leads me to “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”  (1 Cor. 2:14 NKJV). We need the Holy Spirit to guide us, teach us and help us!

Whoa… wait a minute! So Christ AND the Father are in us as well as the Holy Spirit? Wow! This means the entire Trinity is in us and vise versa! The Trinity is inseparable. This is really amazing! This is some pretty good news!

I’m in Christ and He is in Me

So Christ AND the Father is in us AND the Holy Spirit is in us! This gives us a whole new viewpoint to “we are the temple of God”. (God, being the entire Trinity). “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Cor. 3:16 NKJV).

The word “God” in this scripture in the original Greek is referring to Father, Son, Holy Spirit: The Trinity. So you could change this to “We are the temple of the Trinity and the Holy Spirit dwells in you! This is so awesome! And we also have this wonderful scripture: “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit” (1 Jn. 4:13 NKJV).

I am in Him and He is in Me! This is good news and brings us right back to the title of the poster: “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27 NKJV).

Walk in the mindset of living in the New Testament

The perspective of Old Testament: “longing for” versus New Testament: “walking in“. Walking in what we now have because we believed in Him, which is union with CHRIST, and therefore union with the Holy Spirit and Abba Father.

Example: “Here’s the one thing I crave from Yahweh, the one thing I seek above all else: I want to live with him every moment in his house, beholding the marvelous beauty of Yahweh, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to contemplate in his temple.” (Ps. 27:4 TPT).

Old Testament:  David longing to be in the house and with Him every moment.
New Testament: We are now that house and we are with Him every moment and He is with us every moment! It’s the glorious good news of the gospel!

We are now that house: The temple of which He dwells in. (1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19; 2 Cor. 6:16 AMPC).

Here is a quote from “The Rest of The Gospel” by Dan Stone and David Gregory (good book btw)
“The Father operated through the Son. We will see the life of the Father and the Son operating through us by the Holy Spirit.”

All Three Persons of the Trinity at work in us and we have full and complete access to Them! Because of our faith in Him, the one whom the Father sent, we are now a temple for all three persons of the Trinity! The Three are One and They are in us and we are in Them! ~ WoW! He is in this house and He’s not leaving. He will never abandon us! This merits our continuous attention, celebration and thankfulness. Praise Him! raising-hands-whatsapp

Union With The Trinity

Now I want to take this further and talk about not only our union with Christ by the Holy Spirit, but also our unity with Father, Son and Holy Spirit, yes, union with the Trinity! It’s the amazing good news!

I want to point out a very important area of scripture that dives into union with the Trinity. i.e., oneness with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Read these scriptures several times and let it go DEEP!!!

Jesus Prays For All Believers, Not Just The Disciples.

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in us that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given themthat they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them” (Jn. 17:20-26 (NKJV).

…and let’s read it in the New Living Translation (my favorite).

“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are oneas you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave meso they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began! “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them” Jn. 17:20-26 (NLT).

Think for a moment about (Jn. 17:20-26). Jesus was praying for us and His prayer was answered!  Let that sink in! That is the good news!

Resting in the finished work of Christ is hard for our flesh. We naturally want to earn it so we can feel we deserve his grace and mercy (His gift). i.e., feel good about ourselves because we earned it (pride).  There is nothing we can do to earn it, it is freely given to us by the King of Kings because of the Father’s love for us. It’s the best news ever! We just have to believe it and receive it! That is the only requirement! This oneness with the Trinity is accomplished by the Holy Spirit in us! This intimate union with Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the key to the abundant life! “…complete through your union with Christ” (Col. 2:9-10 NLT).

Here is a great quote taken from a book called “The Happy Gospel: Effortless Union with a Happy God” that is applicable towards the above paragraph.

“Perfection is like treasure people spend all their lives searching for. They sail endlessly on the rough and stormy seas of self-effort and will power, never knowing the treasure was in their house the whole time. They never needed to set sail to find what they were looking for. They were finished before they started and the prize lay right under their noses! Trusting in the finished work of the CHRIST is the one, the only key to unlock perfection. And it’s all because CHRIST in you, the hope of glory.” ~ Benjamin Dunn

“The Spirit Gives Life” (2 Cor. 3:6, Jn. 6:63).  “Life Abundantly!” (Jn. 10:10).

In Christ I shall be made alive! “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Cor. 15:22 NKJV).

The Holy Spirit within us gives us the ability to Abide in Christ! “I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing” (Jn. 15:5 AMP).

If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned. If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine” (Jn. 15:6-8 AMPC).

“Those who remain in Him” – Those who believe in Him are united with Him, saved and set free and no one can snatch them from His hand. Those who believe in Him remain and abide in Him. Those who believe in Christ are “In Christ” (Col. 1:26-27; 1 Jn. 4:13,15, Rom. 8:10, Gal. 2:20, 3:26-28, 4:19; Eph. 3:17; 2 Cor. 13:5; Jn. 14:20).

Jesus said: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, …No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” Full context Jn. 10:1-30. “them” here are “those who believe in Him”. When you believe in Christ are are united with Christ. You “abide” in Him the moment you believe in Him.

This paragraph from What does it mean to abide in Christ? does a great job of simplifying what it means to “abide in Him”. – “To “abide” is to live, continue, or remain; so, to abide in Christ is to live in Him or remain in Him. When a person is saved, (believes in Christ) he or she is described as being “in Christ” (Rom. 8:1; 2 Cor. 5:17), held secure in a permanent relationship (Jn. 10:28–29). Therefore, abiding in Christ is not a special level of Christian experience, available only to a few; rather, it is the position of all true believers. The difference between those abiding in Christ and those not abiding in Christ is the difference between the saved and the unsaved.”

Believe in Him and abide (live, continue, remain) in Him. Reject Him and you do not abide in Him. It really is that simple.

See Blue Letter Bible’s Strongs reference for John 15:7 “abide” Strong’s G3306
μένω ménō, men’-o; a primary verb; to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy): – to abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), not to depart, to continue to be present, to be held, kept, continually, to remain as one.

By this we know [with confident assurance] that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given to us His [Holy] Spirit. We [who were with Him in person] have seen and testify [as eye-witnesses] that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him” (1 Jn. 4:13-16 AMP).

To fully understand 1 Jn. 4:13-16, you need to read it in it’s full context (1 Jn. 4:7-21).

The Holy Spirit is the key that opens the door to Christ in us and us in Christ and Our Union With The Trinity.

The lower right side of the map focuses on the Holy Spirit, the Helper, the Spirit of Truth, the Teacher and Comforter. Those who believe in Christ are in union with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit makes this union possible. Christ’s death (Mat. 27:32-56; Mrk. 15:16-41; Lk. 23:26-49; Jn. 19:16-30), burial (Mat. 12:40, 27:57-60, 27:64; Mrk. 15:42-46; Lk. 23:55-56; Jn. 19:38-42), resurrection (Mat. 28: 1–10; Mrk. 16: 1–8; Lk. 24:1-12; Jn. 20:1-18) and ascension to the Father in Heaven (Acts 1:6-12; Mrk. 16:19-20; Jn. 16:28-30, 20:17; Lk. 24:50-53) are the most significant events in human history! I find the Ascension to be the most significant of the four listed above because had Jesus Christ not ascended to the Father in Heaven, the Holy Spirit would not have come!

“However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]” (Jn. 16:7 AMPC).

I will try and put this into some sense of order…

Christ dwells in our hearts through faith! (Eph. 3:17 AMP). When we believe in Christ were are In Christ! The Father sent us the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name Jn. 14:25,26 AMP). God has given us the Holy Spirit as a helper, comforter, guide and teacher!

Christ had to come before the Holy Spirit came and we have to believe in Christ before we can receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to us. We have to believe in Christ to receive the gift. We only have to believe and receive!

(Eph. 3:19,20 NKJV) really puts it all into perspective for me in regards to how important the Holy Spirit is on our lives!

“…that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:19).
“…according to the power (Holy Spirit) that works in us” (Eph. 3:20).

I like how (Eph. 3:19 NLT) puts it:  “you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God”

Life and Power… Resurrection power!

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you” (Rom. 8:11 NLT).

pow

Because we are united with Christ, we can serve God by “living in the Spirit”.

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. 5 When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit” (Rom. 7:4-6 NLT).

“Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law” (Gal. 2:16 NLT).

So we can serve the Lord not by works but by faith in Jesus Christ and by living in the Spirit! The by-product of having faith in Jesus Christ and living in the Spirit will be good works by the power of the Holy Spirit in us, not by our own strength. In other words, we don’t have to try hard to do good works, because we are in union with Christ we let Him to the good works through us by the power of the Holy Spirit. His yoke is easy and His burden is light when we let His power flow through us!

Here is a great quote from Relaxing with God: The Neglected Spiritual Discipline – by: Andrew Farley – “GOD never motivates us to not sin by fear. He motivates us to not sin by giving His Heart, His Mind, and His Spirit. He reminds us of our identity and of His Identity.  Quenching the Spirit (I Thess. 5:19) is simply not expressing what is already our true identity–union, righteous, forgiven, holy and blessed, …….”

…for behold! The Kingdom is within you!  I recently heard a message from Jon Jenkins in regards to the Kingdom of God being in us! I thought it was so good I took the time to transcribe what he said in his message regards the Kingdom.

Referring to this scripture: “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you” (Lk. 17:21 KJV). Jon Jenkins said the following:

“Jesus said, “your always asking me for the Kingdom of God to come, do you not understand this is what’s going to happen?” This is the season where the revelation of what that verse (Luke 17:21) means is going to become a reality in the church. He said for the Kingdom of God isn’t in Brownsville, it isn’t in Toronto, it isn’t in Lakeland, FL, those are places where you’ve seen evidence of it, but the kingdom of God is not a place you go to, it is in you! And the more you begin to release… (he never finished this sentence but I’m sure he was going to say something like… ” the more we will see His power in action”) … Let’s let the Holy Spirit out of house arrest! Many have the Holy Spirit on house arrest, you need to let Him (the Holy Spirit) go because He’s wanting to minister, not only for you and in you but through you… it’s time the we realize, that we, the sons and daughters of the most high God have been called of God to be filled with the same Spirit that Jesus had on this earth and greater works shall we do (John 14:12) not because we go to seminary or theological schools but because Jesus Christ is in us and His power wants to flow through us. The season has come for this ministry where God is going to start doing in you and for you what the world needs Him to do through you.” – You can hear Jon’s complete message here: Jon Jenkins – Live Again

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (Jn. 14:12 NKJV) – Jesus is saying here that we will do greater works because He was going to The Father. Why? Because The Holy Spirit could not come until He went to be with the Father. See (Jn .16:7, 14:16).  This is such a crucial moment in scripture! It’s the key to the abundant life!!! It’s how His Kingdom can be in us!  This is specifically what I have been getting blasted with for some time now! IT’S THE GOOD NEWS! …and the best news is we just have to “receive the gift”!  YAY!!!

Before we move onto the mind of Christ section of the map, I want to point out something extremely important about the Holy Spirit.

  1. The Holy Spirit is fully God, lives within you and has been freely given to you! This is how Christ lives in you and how the Kingdom of God lives within you.
  2. “Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Rom. 5:5 AMP)
  3.  The moment you believe in Jesus Christ, the one whom He sent… you are awakened to the truth that you are filled with the fullness of God! Refer to (Eph. 3:17-19; 1 Jn. 4:15) for some examples.
  4. “…the kingdom of God is within you” (Lk. 17:21 NKJV).
  5. “Do not be afraid and anxious, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Lk. 12:32 AMP). Believe and receive…

Oh yeah!  It’s the Fathers good pleasure to give us the Kingdom. Yes, I receive it Lord!

This leads me to the subject of baptism of the Holy Spirit. When do we get that? When you believe in Christ you are filled with the fullness of God, so baptism is not a second work, a second filling, or another filling. You become awakened to what you already have when you believe!

This is what I am just now really starting to understand after being a Christian for 28 years and it is glorious good news indeed!

Check out this progression:  “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive…” (Jn. 7:38-39 NLT). What is the living water? It’s life and life abundant! How do we receive this living water? By believing in Him! …and this scripture also says because we believe in Him, we receive the Holy Spirit! When do we receive the Holy Spirit? When we believe! Really what is happening is from the moment you believe, you are being awakened to what you already have because of the finished work of the cross! Exactly what was finished when Jesus said “It is finished!” (Jn. 19:28-30). Here is a quick video that sums this up nicely.

Focus Your Eyes On Jesus,
Who Is The Author And Perfecter Of Our Faith.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, 2 [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work]” (Heb. 12:1-2 AMP).

What did Jesus mean when He said, “It is finished”?

The good news in a nutshell: Believe in Him, receive the Holy Spirit, instantly! Receive the Holy Spirit and you receive the fullness of God! 🙂 Believe in Him and you are instantly “In Christ!” …and “In Christ” lives all the fullness of God! “Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God” (1 Jn. 4:15 AMP). Why is this good news? Because: “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority” (Col. 2:9-10 NLT). It’s so good! I’m drunk just thinking about it 🙂 May you be joyfully awakened to the fact that you are: filled with His glory Jn. 17:22, with His Joy Jn. 15:11, with His peace Jn. 14:27, and with His love Jn. 17:26. “…filled with all the fullness of God” Col. 2:9-10 NLT). Be glad and rejoice!

Meditate on these scriptures and let it go in deep 🙂 (Col. 1:27, 2:9-10; Rom. 8:10; 2 Cor. 4:6-7; Gal. 1:15-16, 2:20; 1 Cor. 3:16, 2 Cor. 13:5; Eph. 3:17-19; Jn. 4:15).

I really love the statement from John Crowder, I feel he does a good job at explaining what we already have because we believed in Him: “We are realizing we have it all, there is a place for more Lord, but it’s not more of something that I don’t have, it’s more of a discovery of the fullness that we already have. He has given you everything. The outsiders have become insiders. He does not come progressively. He came all in one fell swoop, there’s no more hungering for more. If you’re still hungry, was Jesus not a good enough meal?” (Gal. 2:20; Rom. 6; Col. 2). One more lovely Crowder quote: “The holy spirit does not come in portion, he comes in person”. That is glorious. The scripture says so right here!  “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.” Jn. 3:34 NKJV). The only caveat to what John Crowder said about us realizing that we have it all is the fact that we have to believe it to receive it. One has to believe in Christ to receive His finished work. I have a Bible study in regards to what happens when someone believes in Christ or rejects Christ. You can dive into the study here: Believe In Him. There is also a great book by Andrew Wommack that covers this subject well. One of my favorites! You’ve Already Got It! (So Quit Trying To Get It) – Andrew Wommack.

Read this scripture again and let it sink in.  “Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (Jn. 6:35 (NLT).

“For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority” (2 Cor. 2:9-11NLT). It’s important to note here that Paul is talking to believers in this passage which you can see in vs. 11 below. “When you came to Christ”. So a better way to read vs 9-11 would be “Those who believe in Jesus Christ are complete through their union with Christ”.

“When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead” (Col. 2:11-12 NLT).

Lets read Col. 2:9-10 again in the (AMPC)

And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].” Col. 2:9-10 AMPC). WOW!

Here is an awesome scripture referencing Christ being in us through faith and being completely filled and flooded with God Himself. I love how the amplified version puts this into perspective. I have already mentions this above but I have it here in full context.

In my Bible the scripture I have placed below (Eph. 3:14-21) is titled as “Appreciation of The Mystery”. I love this title, we should appreciate and be in constant amazement of this mystery continuously! This is so good I have to put it all in context below.

“For this reason [grasping the greatness of this plan by which Jews and Gentiles are joined together in Christ] I bow my knees [in reverence] before the Father [of our Lord Jesus Christ], from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name [God—the first and ultimate Father]. May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality], so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love, be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love]; and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself]. Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen” Eph. 3:14-21 AMP).

I don’t know, I think that entire section needs to be underlined, highlighted and surrounded with blinking lights. It’s amazing good news! I believe the word “superabundantly” is my favorite part of  that scripture reference. It’s a perfect word describing His free gift for us! Here it is in my Bible 🙂

Ephesians 3 (Bible Page Mark up)

The Mind of Christ and Our Identity

This is such an important part of our relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Understanding our identity In Christ is HUGE! The bottom of the Bible study map is where I dive into the mind of Christ and our new identity we have in Christ.

The mind of Christ has everything to do with our new nature! It’s an integral part of the new life!  “Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life” (1 Cor. 15:22 NLT).

We have this new nature because our old nature was crucified with Christ (when we believed)! “We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin” (Rom. 6:6 NLT).

The Holy Spirit renews our thoughts and attitudes! “Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy” (Eph. 4:22-24 NLT)

Throw off the old and put on the new! The old life is gone and the new life has begun! 2 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (Cor. 5:17 NLT)

We now have the mind of Christ and we have right thinking because of the Holy Spirit! 1 “For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ” (Cor. 2:16 NLT).

We can have this mind of Christ because of the Holy Spirit! “But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets” (1 Cor. 2:10 LT).

The mind of Christ is about what you are thinking. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise” (Phil. 4:8 NLT).

Set your “mind” on things above. “Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm” (Col. 3:2 TPT).

God has given us a “sound mind”. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7 NKJV).

Let the Holy Spirit transform how you think. “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes” (Rom. 12:2 TPT).

Let the Holy Spirit control your thoughts, this will lead to life and peace. “So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace” (Rom. 8:6 NLT).

Capture every thought and make it bow in obedience to God. “We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One” (2 Cor. 10:5 TPT).

Set your mind on the things of the Spirit. “For those who are living according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spirit, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose]” (Rom. 8:5 AMP).

We have the mind of Christ because we have a new nature, we are a new creation!

So let’s get back to Col. 1:26-27…

“This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory” Col. 1:26-27 NLT). The (NKJV) and others says “Hope of Glory”.

What is this hope of glory? What does it mean to “share His glory”?

  • His GLORY in us (Jn. 17:22) – We carry His glory inside us.
  • His JOY in us – (Jn. 15:11) – We carry His joy inside us.
  • His PEACE in us – (Jn. 14:27) – We carry His peace inside us.
  • His LOVE in us – Jn. 17:26, Rom. 5:5 (We carry His love inside us)
  • The FULLNESS OF GOD in us – Eph. 3:19 (We carry the fullness of God inside us)
  • KINGDOM OF GOD IN US! – Luk. 17:20-21 (We carry the Kingdom inside us)
…and the result of all this leads to Freedom!

Many of us know this familiar scripture: “… “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Cor. 2:9 NLT). But many usually stop there and don’t move onto verse. “…But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets” (1 Cor. 2:10 NLT).

His Spirit in us does and will: (a short list)

“convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior]” (Jn. 16:8 AMP).
“guide us into all truth” (Jn. 14:17, 16:13 NLT).
“never leave us” (Jn. 14:16 NLT).
“not abandon us as orphans (Spirit of Adoption)” (Rom. 8:15 NLT).
“teach us everything” (Jn. 14:26 NLT).
“help, pray and intercede for us” (Rom 8:26 AMP).
“transform us into the image of Jesus” (2 Cor. 3:18 NLT).
“lead us” Rom. (8:14 AMP)
“produce fruit” (Gal. 5:22,23 NLT).
“give us life” (Jn. 6:63 NLT).
“give us new life” (Tit. 3:5 NLT).
“give us life abundantly!” (Jn. 10:10 NLT).
“bring true freedom” (2 Cor. 3:17 AMP).
“make us complete with all the fullness of life and power” (Eph. 3:16 NLT).
“make known what has been freely given to us by God!” (1 Cor. 2:9-16 NLT).
“gives us the ability to Abide in Christ!” (Jn. 15:4,5; 1 Jn. 4:13 AMP).
“impart all of the gifts of Christ needed for ministry” (1 Cor. 12; Rom. 12; Eph. 4 NKJV).

Don’t take the Holy Spirit for granted. Appreciate His life giving gift for us continually!

“And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own!” (Eph. 4:30 NLT).

“…His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for Himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted” (Eph. 4:30 MSG).

So much goodness to dive into. The Trinity is such a core to all that is Christianity! The Trinity always was and is and is to come! Studying all the Bible has to say about the Trinity and functionality thereof and the role that each person of the Trinity plays and how we are involved with all three and vise verse is mind blowing and amazing!

Here is something to think about that should excite you!

“For the Kingdom of God is “… living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 14:17 NKJV).

“I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col. 2:2,3 NKJV).

“for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see — such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him” Col. 1:16 NLT).

…and He is in us and we are in Him! It’s amazing good news!

“When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (Jn. 14:20 NLT).

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Cor. 5:17 NLT).

…and here is some “set you free” good news:

The only “Work” we have to do is… “Believe in Him whom He sent”

“Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent” Jn. 6:29 NKJV). “Believe in Him whom He sent” …and let Him do the work for you!

…believe in Him AND whom He sent and have eternal life!

“And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth” (Jn. 17:3 NLT).

I love what a missionary friend of mine said recently about (Jn. 17:3) “Eternal life begins when you know Him, when you are in Him, you are in the eternal. You make the transition from the temporal to the eternal when you get to know him.” ~ Jim Santiago Hill

THAT IS ALL!        THE GOOD NEWS!
excited baby

…and here is some even more good news. Condensing the message above, here it is in a much smaller package:

NO CONDEMNATION
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1 NLT). – Note: “those who belong to Christ” Those who belong are those who believe in Christ. You belong to Christ when you believe in Him.

NO SEPARATION
“Who shall ever separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Just as it is written and forever remains written, “For Your sake we are put to death all day long; We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us]. For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Rom. (8:35-39 AMP). – Note: “Who shall ever separate us from the love of Christ?” The “us” in the reference when read in full context is believers.

ETERNAL ABUNDANT LIFE NOW
“…the person who hears My word [the one who heeds My message], and believes and trusts in Him who sent Me, has (possesses now) eternal life [that is, eternal life actually begins—the believer is transformed], and does not come into judgment and condemnation, but has passed [over] from death into life” (Jn. 5:24 AMP). ..Life abundantly! John 10:10.

FRIENDS WITH GOD (Fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit)
“And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God” (Rom. 5:9-12 NLT). – Note: “And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Chris”. The “we” in this reference when read in full context is believers.

…not only has He made us (believers) friends with God, the Father has also sent us the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus (Jn. 14:25-26), so that we may abide in Him and He in us! (Jn. 4:13-15)

16:7 AMP).

“By this we know [with confident assurance] that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given to us His [Holy] Spirit. We [who were with Him in person] have seen and testify [as eye-witnesses] that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God” (1 Jn. 4:13-15 AMP).

Wait a minute, the scriptures above say that the Father sent us the Holy Spirit and that Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit. This scripture clears this up: “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me” Jn. 15:26 (NKJV).

So because of what Christ did on the cross and because Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit who is from the Father we now have fellowship (friendship) with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! All because we believe in the One whom He sent (Jn. 6:29). Wow! Because we believe in the Son, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit abide in us and us in Them! The result of believing in the Son is deep inseparable friendship and union with the Trinity! There is no longer any separation between us and God. (Rom. 8:31-19; Heb. 10:19-22). We have become the Temple of God! (1 Cor. 3:16). We are now the temple of the Holy Spirit who was given to us by God! (1 Cor. 6:19-20)

WE LIVE IN HIM AND HE LIVES IN US
“And God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God” 1 Jn. 4:13-15 NLT).

UNITED WITH CHRIST
“For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6-7 NLT).

So here is some amazing news…….

If He is in me and I’m in Him, then He is where I am, and I am where He is seated with Him in Heavenly places.

This is a wonderful mystery that gives me hope!
happy baby   This makes me happy!

So knowing all this good news, we can now relax and let God take care of all our needs 🙂

“Jesus taught his disciples, saying, “Listen to me. Never let anxiety enter your hearts. Never worry about any of your needs, such as food or clothing. For your life is infinitely more than just food or the clothing you wear. Take the carefree birds as your example. Do you ever see them worry? They don’t grow their own food or put it in a storehouse for later. Yet God takes care of every one of them, feeding each of them from his love and goodness. Isn’t your life more precious to God than a bird? Be carefree in the care of God! Does worry add anything to your life? Can it add one more year, or even one day? So if worrying adds nothing, but actually subtracts from your life, why would you worry about God’s care of you? Think about the lilies. They grow and become beautiful, not because they work hard or strive to clothe themselves. Yet not even Solomon, wearing his kingly garments of splendor, could be compared to a field of lilies. If God can clothe the fields and meadows with grass and flowers, can’t he clothe you as well, O struggling one with so many doubts? I repeat it: Don’t let worry enter your life. Live above the anxious cares about your personal needs. People everywhere seem to worry about making a living, but your heavenly Father knows your every need and will take care of you. Each and every day he will supply your needs as you seek his kingdom passionately, above all else” (Lk. 12:22-31 TPT). See also (Mat. 6:25-33).

So how do we not worry or be anxious when there is so much around us to worry and be anxious about?

“Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail)” Ps. 55:22 AMP).

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. (1 Ptr. 5:6,7 AMP).

“Do not be afraid and anxious, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Lk. 12:32 AMP).

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7 NKJV).

So how do we not worry and not be anxious? By humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God [setting aside self-righteous pride], by prayer and supplication to the Lord with thanksgiving and by casting all of our cares and burdens upon Him, for He cares for us! YaY Jesus!

Here a great song about letting Him work in us. …His Yoke is easy, His burden is so light!

“For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Mat. 11:30 NLT).

…Yeah that’s right. Christ is in you, lifting your load 🙂

Here is a quote from “The Rest of The Gospel” by Dan Stone that I feel helps explain this concept of easy yoke and light burden. “The Father operated through the Son. We will see the life of the Father and the Son operating though us by the Holy Spirit.”

“Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]?” (1 Cor. 3:16 AMP).

You (believer) are a temple for all three persons of the Trinity!

We can experience this easy yoke and light burden by letting the life of the Father and Son operate through us by the Holy Spirit!

His never-ending love for us is so amazing! I’m so excited to know Him! He’s so good! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Father for loving us so much that you sent your Son! Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice for us! Thank you Father and Son for sending us the Holy Spirit!

This quote from “Spiritual Burnout: When Doing All You Can Isn’t Enough” by: Malcolm Smith (1988) sums it up nicely! “There is nothing left for man to do, no ladders to climb, no mountains to scale, The heart of the Christian life is to stand in wonder before His love and say, “Thank You”.

If I were to try and sum up my entire Study-Map and all that I have said above to try and explain my study-map into one quote, this would be it!

“The pinnacle and what should be the normalcy of our Christian walk while here on earth, is union with Christ the Son, the Holy Spirit and the Father. The fact is, union with Trinity is normalcy and reality for the Christian because of the Holy Spirit.”
Best News Ever! ~ Tony Baker

Lk. 17:20-21, Jn. 14:16; 14:20; 15:5; 16:13-15; 17:20-26, Rom. 6:5, 6:8, 8:10; 1 Cor. 3:16; 2:16; 6:17: 6:19; 2 Cor. 4:10-11, 13:5, 13:14; Gal. 2:20; 4:19; Eph. 1:17-23, 2:6, 3:14-21; Col. 1:27; 2:10).

In case you missed it, this entire “Christ in You (Good News) Bible Study-Map and Blog” is about God’s free gift of Grace and our union with Him and by “Him” I mean Father, Son and Holy spirit because the three are one. I am in a completely different place now than I was spiritually in regards to grace just a few years ago. Now I am looking at grace through the lens of the finished work of the cross and it’s completely different! It’s wonderful! It’s vibrant! It’s life-giving! It’s the good news! 🙂 I “knew” about grace, I thought I “understood” grace and I thought I even had a “revelation” about grace, but what was missing even up to a few years ago was a “revelation of the finished work of the cross”. When I look at grace now through the lens of the finished work of the cross, it’s all new and alive and wonderful! 🙂 To quote a friend if mine: “No Do’s and no Blues… ONLY GOOD NEWS!!”. We have it ALL from the moment we believe in Him because of the finished work of the cross. The rest of our Christian walk is being awakened to that reality!  WOW!

The Gospel of grace is intoxicating good news! Swimming in this good news is the best place to be always! 🙂 …and when the revelation that it’s not by works but “by faith” that we receive all this good news sinks in deep, that is when His JoY in us cannot be extinguished. Check out the definition of “extinguished”: (a fire or light) to cease to burn or shine.

A revelation of this Gospel of grace allows His fire and light within us to continue to burn and shine! Whooooo. Yay Jesus!

This movie quote explains it well. “My father says that almost the whole world is asleep…everybody you know, everybody you see, everybody you talk to. He says that only a few people are awake and that they live in a state of constant…total…amazement.”  DeDe (Meg Ryan) to Joe (Tom Hanks) in Joe Versus the Volcano.

His grace is sufficient, His love limitless and His gift to us extravagant!

it all makes sense now

Jn. 6:63 ~The Spirit Gives Life!
Not just life… but life abundantly! ~ Jn. 10:10

happy-me          May His joy (Jn 15:11) in you be your strength (Neh. 8:10)!

I will end this for now with Paul’s prayer to the Colossians:

“And we pray that you would be energized with all his explosive power from the realm of his magnificent glory, filling you with great hope. Your hearts can soar with joyful gratitude when you think of how God made you worthy to receive the glorious inheritance freely given to us by living in the light. He has rescued us completely from the tyrannical rule of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom realm of his beloved Son. For in the Son all our sins are canceled and we have the release of redemption through his very blood” Col. 1:11-14 TPT).
